Location: Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru is the state capital of Johor in southern peninsular Malaysia, just across the causeway from Singapore.

Declared a city only in 1994, Johor Bahru is an important industrial, tourism and commercial hub for southern Malaysia and one of the biggest industrial centres of the country.

Johor is connected by two bridges with neighbouring country Singapore, which is just across the causeway. Many habitants of Johor Bahru work in Singapore and vice versa. It is much more affordable to shop in JB, which has many shopping malls. A lot of expats from Kuala Lumpur are relocating to Johor due to the more favourable cost of living.

On the Johor Bahru’s waterfront is Istana Besar, a royal palace built by Sultan Abu Bakar in 1866 that now houses the Royal Abu Bakar Museum.

Johor is also home to Legoland Malaysia which is Malaysia’s first international theme park that opened on 15 September 2012. It is the first Legoland theme park in Asia and sixth in the world upon its establishment.
