Location: Fujairah, UAE

Fujairah is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, and the only one of the seven that has a coastline solely on the Gulf of Oman.

Travelling in and around Fujairah and the surrounding towns has been made easy by the development of modern highways since independence in 1971.

Fujairah is home to the oldest mosque in the United Arab Emirates which was built in 1446 of mud and bricks.

Fujairah City is the emirate’s business and commercial hub, and office buildings line its main strip.  The city is worth a stop, if only to get a sense of Fujairah’s past at the restored fort and the adjacent museum. Locals are also proud of several developments: the massive, gleaming white Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the emirate’s first big shopping mall (Fujairah City Centre mall) and the Sheikh Khalifa Hwy to Dubai.
