About the Position

What’s the role?

BrightSpark Teachers work closely with an education service provider in Malaysia to recruit experienced school leaders to be Education Advisors across Malaysia. Advisors operate as a team across a cluster group of schools in their area, and work with school leaders and teachers as a mentor and coach to develop their practices, skills and knowledge of effective pedagogy and best strategies, and provide support towards sustainable, transferrable and achievable education improvement.

As Education Advisors you will be aiming to assist the school leaders’ with implementation of school improvement; support schools to identify areas of weakness, prioritising changes and establishing goals for change; model best practice and support teachers to improve student achievement; support financial management within schools where needed; support schools to gather valid data and proper use of such data and guide schools on effective monitoring and tracking of school improvement.

Full training is provided in November for 3 weeks, which takes place in Kuala Lumpur. You’ll be provided with hotel accommodation for this time, and will have the chance to train alongside fellow advisors and incoming staff. After this time there is a break for Christmas, and then you are required to start in January, in your allocated location.

When can I apply?

We are accepting applications now for the November 2017 intake. We can provide you as much information as possible in order to prepare your application ready for submission in August 2017. Interviews are held via Skype or in person in Kuala Lumpur, and offers will be made in August/September 2017. The company will secure your employment pass, and any dependent passes, ahead of your arrival in Malaysia.

About the School

The client we work with places advisors in cluster groups around the whole of East and West Malaysia. Advisors work with local Government schools at both Primary and Secondary level, and these really vary in terms of size and facilities.

West Malaysia, or peninsular Malaysia, shares a northern border with Thailand and a southern border with Singapore. This half of malaysia accounts for roughly 80% of it's population, spread across 11 states. East Malaysia is half of the island of Borneo, with a border to Indonesia. Malaysia is a country of stunning natural beauty, covered in forests, mountains and surrounded by coasts and tropical islands. The placements for this position are located across Malaysia, and you can discuss placement location during interview. Each placement, whether in a city, or a town, near to the rainforest or to the coast, offers something unique.

Qualification and Requirements

Required Qualifications: candidates are required to be qualified teachers in their home country, with at least a Bachelor degree. A Master degree is an advantage, but is not mandatory.

Mandatory Required Experience: at least 8 years of experience in education; strong experience as a middle or senior leader in a mainstream school environment; demonstrated experience designing and/or delivering professional development programs in an educational environment. The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following: some experience working in an advisory capacity in an education context; experience liaising with Government organisations with regards to education standards; experience working on school improvement.
